Custom Wood Front Door Cost in St. Petersburg, FL
Six things set the price of a custom wood door. Here is how each moves it, so a quote makes sense before you ask for one.
St. Pete Custom Doors prices every custom door from its size, wood, carving, glass, hardware and installation. Most of our custom doors run $4,000 to $20,000, installed; the exact number is set in a written quote once the opening is measured and the materials are chosen.
The Six Things That Set a Custom Door's Price
Size and weight
Oversized and double entries use more wood, need heavier hinges or a pivot, and take more hands to hang.
Wood species
Rot-resistant exterior hardwoods cost more than interior species, and some imported woods move with supply.
Carving detail
Carving is paid for in hours; a border and one motif is a fraction of a full relief panel. See hand-carved doors.
Glass
Lites, sidelights and transoms add cost, and exterior glass may need to meet code.
Hardware
Solid brass or bronze and multipoint locks cost more than plated sets and last far longer in salt air.
Installation and permits
Quoted as separate lines; see installation.
Lead Times for a Custom Door
The build time is set at the consultation, once the design and wood are chosen. Carving and wood availability are the biggest variables, and the finish is given time to cure, because an uncured finish is the most common cause of early failure.
Custom vs Stock and Online Doors
Stock and online doors are cheaper because they are made in standard sizes, in volume, often with veneer over an engineered core, and most are shipped rather than installed. If you already have one, we can install it properly.
